Not so alone.
I’m kind of happy to find out that it’s not only me (and Daniel) that think the teenagers nowadays are a bunch of idiots. Seriously, we were better 10 years ago. I know there were some shocking, inappropriate, *insert what you will* things in the eye of our elders of course, but really, EVEN we were better. Music nowadays for example, things that these teens relate to sound really stupid to me!
Did older people see us exactly like this, too?
Are we only becoming older and realizing younger people are idiots?
No, no… I don’t think so. Not just that.
We had purposes, we had our ideas, we had our music, our literature. We had things to relate to. We had things to show and tell aside from “um i hate my life, um i want an ipad, um bla bla”s. I don’t like rap music but even rap was better 10 years ago. The lyrics meant something, they had things to say to society. Now it’s only about, i don’t know, nothing… Hips, money, parties, or if they tried at least a little bit - love ( at least that’s what they think it is.) If we were angry; we were angry for a reason, if we rebelled; we rebelled for a reason… Reasoning existed!
Many years ago Edgar Allan Poe said;
“I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.” For so long I agreed with him but lately I really think we are becoming less wise everyday. Not only teens… Humans effect their future in a negative way!
I don’t know how to tell what’s going wrong and who to tell to. You can’t simply become a teacher to FIX the youth, you can’t simply become a politician to fix the country… You can try, of course, but you can’t fix everything… Is it why we end up like this? Some people tried to say something, tried to do something, but no one listened anyway or it didn’t matter in the end. Look at Turkey for example, check who Ataturk is and what he managed to archive. Then go check what became of his country. Will it matter if someone else comes forward and fixes that country now? Won’t the rest of the idiots ruin what you offer? They eventually will… I don’t have the will to fill here with everyone and everything that tried to change things - and probably did change for a while - but just think of this, were they permanent?
